Greetings, Colleagues
As we begin 2022, I can’t help but think what an interesting year 2021 was to reflect upon. The entire world has been up ended by the pandemic and I remain amazed at how much progress we have made in the simulation world to improve the quality and safety of care provided to patients because of our efforts. I have had the opportunity to speak and participate in numerous conferences around the globe and remain incredibly excited about the accomplishments of the community of simulation. I look forward to the new challenges that will be in store.
Locally, we have begun the UPMC system-wide spread of the Radiation Contrast Reaction Program that prepares physicians, nurses and technicians with early recognition and treatment skills for life-threatening situations. We have launched the hourly rounding program for increasing safety and quality of care delivered by hard working nurses on the front lines of care. At WISER, we have been fortunate to be able to expand our team to meet the needs of our simulation stakeholders. We have also expanded our facilities over the last year. We opened new satellites and were able to build a permanent home for our production studio to help with our content creation. We have made significant upgrades to the technology supporting our ultrasound program capabilities.
We are excited to say that our simulation information management system version 2.0 has made a successful launch and has a remarkable upgraded set of tools that help people manage their simulation centers. We are receiving rave reviews from those who have been using the new version.
We are gearing for a busy spring which is going to be symposium central for us! We are very excited about our upcoming symposium on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and exploring the roles that simulation can play to make a difference. Additionally, as usual for this time of year, we are planning for another fantastic hosting of the simulation portion of the Safar Symposium.
I hope that you had a happy holiday season, remain in good health, and were able to have some time away from work spending with family and other loved ones. Onward to 2022!
Until next time,
Happy Simulating

Need to convert video? Pull the handbrake!
In the last few years, the quality and amount of video that a simulation program can generate has increased to levels unimaginable a few years ago. Videos from AV Systems, GoPros, Mobile Phones, Zoom and Teams have become a vital part of our simulation efforts.

One of our current Fellows had the opportunity to participate in the INACSL Visual Conference 2021 earlier this summer. Mikang Kim was fortunate enough to have her poster accepted to be one of the 90 posters exhibited this year
