WISER was proud to once again host the Safar Symposium this year—this time in an exciting new venue. For 2026, the symposium moved to Scaife Hall, a change that proved both practical and energizing. The new location brought us closer to the clinicians, learners, and colleagues who make this event meaningful, while also giving our outofsystem visitors a first look at the impressive new spaces taking shape within the WISER at Scaife space.

The day featured an outstanding lineup of speakers whose expertise and enthusiasm set the tone for a dynamic program. Presenters included SRNA students Eliese Pergi and Robert Rindone from the University of Pittsburgh, who piloted their innovative research on AIassisted ultrasound at WISER earlier this spring. We were also honored to welcome Dr. Bhavesh Patel from the Mayo Clinic in Arizona who spoke about Military Civilian Partnership to Advance Standards of Trauma Skill Performance, Dr. Advait Kothare, WISER’s simulation fellow, dove into improving high stakes assessments. Dr. Aaron Calhoun, the current President of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, spoke about the future of simulation research and the International Liaison Council on Simulation. We are deeply grateful to every speaker, attendee, and team member whose time, effort, and collaboration made the symposium a success.

The move to Scaife Hall offered more than convenience—it allowed us to showcase the progress of our expanding simulation space. While one half of WISER at Scaife has been fully operational for over a year, this event gave us the perfect opportunity to give those attending a sneak peek at the second phase. This new wing features a wide array of rooms, equipment, and capabilities designed to elevate the learner experience and support cuttingedge simulation initiatives.

Phase two officially opened for courses on June 1st, and we can’t wait to welcome learners into these new spaces. Keep an eye on our social channels for behindthescenes looks, updates, and announcements as we continue to grow our simulation footprint at Scaife Hall.
