Our June 11-12th Improving Simulation Instructional Methods (iSIM) course is right around the corner, but there is still time to register! Designed for anyone that wants to improve their skills in designing and deploying simulation-based training events, iSIM teaches participants all the foundational knowledge and skills needed to create inclusive scenarios, implement effective assessments, perform focused facilitation, and debrief using the GAS model. Over two busy, hands-on days, participants work alongside the experts at WISER to create and refine real simulation cases and run pilot scenarios while taking part in active discussions regarding all the best practices of simulation. This course is essential for any educator, practicing professional, or novice simulationists looking to advance their abilities in the sim lab. To register for our iSIM course, follow this link!

While preparing for the iSIM course, the Curriculum Team is celebrating another win: a successful turnout at this year’s Safar Symposium! Individuals eager to learn how the use of simulation-based training is advancing the field of pediatric care had the opportunity to take part in meaningful conversations, network, and hear from experts in the field! We want to thank our incredible lineup of speakers, such as Dr. Jennifer Arnold, Dr. Melinda Fiedor Hamilton, Dr. Jared Henrickson, Dr. Alyssa Vigliotti, and our own fellow Dr. Advait Kothare, for taking the time to come to WISER and share their experiences and proven methods in utilizing simulation-based education. From implementing in-situ drills that prepare outpatient pediatric facilities for emergency situations, to utilizing simulation to build resilience in unfamiliar learning spaces, these experts illustrate what it means to be champions in simulation. This year also marked the end of an era as we celebrated the retirement of Pat Kochanek, Director of the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research. We can’t wait to see what next year’s symposium will bring!
