A recent study, co-authored by one of our former fellows Dr. Thanat Tangpaisarn, along with our Director Dr. Paul Phrampus and Senior Associate Director Dr. John O’Donnell, examines the impact of simulation-based education on teaching fiber-optic intubation (FOI) to student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs). FOI is a critical skill for managing difficult airways, but limited clinical exposure can make skill development and mastery challenging. This study, analyzing data collected from WISER’s Pediatric Anesthesia Simulation for SRNAs course, found significant improvements in performance during training sessions. As highlighted by the results of this study, simulation proves to be a safe and effective tool for developing essential clinical skills in anesthesia education!
