WISER Director Dr. Paul Phrampus Earns Certified Physician Executive (CPE) Credentials

Paul Phrampus

WISER Highlights Spring 2021

WISER would like to congratulate our Director, Dr. Paul Phrampus, MD on receiving his Certified Physician Executive (CPE) credential from the American Association for Physician Leadership. Dr. Donald M. Yealy, MD, Senior VP, UPMC; Chief Medical Officer, UPMC; Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine stated:

“This is an important marker of accomplishment and readiness to lead, something Paul showed for years ….”

Dr. Donald M. Yealy

The CPE maximizes a physician’s leadership potential to influence healthcare by emphasizing one’s business acumen, commitment to quality, communication, and the desire for excellence in healthcare. The CPE attests to one’s ability to lead large groups, manage budgets, address HR challenges, and apply strategic business insights.

As Dr. Yealy suggested, Dr. Phrampus has demonstrated his ability to lead and strive for excellence in healthcare through his work in simulation serving as the Director of WISER, his position as the Medical Director for Patient Safety with the UPMC Health System, and as the Medical Director for the Donald D. Wolff Jr. Center for Quality, Safety & Innovation at UPMC.

CPE designation is reserved for the most influential leaders in healthcare – it is an exhaustive process to earn CPE designation, and can only be pursued following years of dedication to improving healthcare. We applaud Dr. Phrampus and are proud of to have him leading our center!
