With over twenty plus years of Simulation experience, our senior-most Simulation Operations Specialist will be retiring from WISER.

Jon Mazur will be retiring from his full-time position at the end of September.  Prior to working at WISER, Jon was a Medical/Surgical Buyer at UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore Hospital.  Jon began his WISER career in 2000 when WISER was originally located at UPMC Montefiore Hospital.  As a Simulation Operations Specialist Jon’s main responsibilities include working closely with faculty on program development, implementation, scenario design, programming, repair and maintenance of simulators and equipment, and much more.

In 2016, Jon completed all the requirements and became an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor.  In April 2017, Jon successfully completed the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification administered through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH)!  To date, Jon has helped facilitate thousands of simulation sessions and train countless instructors.

In addition to Jon’s work at WISER, he has attended and supported many workshops throughout his career. Jon has presented at the local and national levels.

To say Jon was instrumental in the development of WISER would not do him credit. From assisting with facility design to implementation, Jon has been with WISER throughout its journey.

Jon will be missed not only by his coworkers but the UPMC and University of Pittsburgh community.

Please join us in wishing Jon the best of luck on a well-deserved retirement and thank him for his major contributions to WISER and the healthcare community!

Thank you Jon for all your hard work and dedication to the WISER mission!
