During the COVID-19 pandemic WISER Director of Operations Tom Dongilli and Director of Information Technology (IT) John Lutz were asked by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) to contribute to their SSH SimSeries and SSH Open Forum Discussions. Both John and Tom?s presentations provided the viewer a wealth of information on how WISER has succeeded in hosting courses remotely and supporting staff as they worked remotely.
?SSH SimSeries COIVD-19: Utilizing Zoom for Remote Simulation Education? held on April 7 provided viewers a background and understand how WISER IT and Operations staff set-up Zoom for a recent 4th Year Critical Care Medicine course. IT and Operations staff was able to go through the step-by-step process of setting up the main, AV, student and simulator computers. John included details of the equipment the team used during the course and how everything came together for a successful educational experience by the students and instructor.
?SSH SimSeries: COVID-19: Transition and Management of Sim Center Staff to Work from Home and/or Limited Onsite Support? hosted by Tom Dongilli on April 21st discussed the steps WISER leadership took to allow staff to work from home during the stay-at-home order from the government. Tom detailed the internal protocols established for working remotely, supporting existing courses and COVID-19 related courses and training. Tom also broke down how each department established how they would support WISER while working remotely.
