Our Operations Team is proud to announce that Katie Beam of Western Maryland has successfully become a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)! With this accomplishment, all WISER Operations Specialists that are eligible are now CHSOS certified. This certification is a milestone for WISER, as it reflects the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of our operations team.
As defined by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), an Operations Specialist is, “an individual whose primary role is the implementation and delivery of a simulation activity through the application of simulation technologies such as, computers, audio-visual, or networking technologies.” The CHSOS certification was created to distinguish those individuals who perform healthcare simulation in the Operations Specialist role, “without restriction to simulation modality, setting, geographic location, learner population, function, and profession.”
With every eligible staff member achieving the CHSOS certification, the WISER Operations Team is now equipped with the latest knowledge and credentials in our field to deliver high quality service, operate more efficiently, and build trust with our partners. This collective achievement not only strengthens our internal capabilities, but also enhances our external services to the health care and simulation community as a whole.
In an effort to share our expertise and help advance the field of healthcare simulation, WISER created TechSim. Mapped to the SSH CHSOS Exam Blueprint and available both in person and online, TechSim is one of the only available courses that provides all the foundational knowledge needed for novice simulationists to become experts in the field. Outlining core concepts, including scenario programming, simulation terminology, performing repair and preventative maintenance, and much more, TechSim provides the practical knowledge participants need to be effective operational team members. Individuals interested in TechSim Onsite have the unique opportunity to shadow WISER’s CHSOS certified staff, receive hands-on training in our center, and experience first-hand how we support over 500 active courses across multiple satellite centers spanning Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York!
