WISER would like to congratulate Tom Dongilli, AS, CHSOS, Director of Operations, and Kevin Miracle, MBA, CHSOS for successfully recertifying their Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
Dongilli and Miracle completed the recertification processes using the Continuing Professional Development units as defined by SSH. Obtaining a certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist promotes excellence and professionalism, and demonstrates a commitment to the use of simulation as a tool for professional development.
Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist is reserved for professionals who demonstrate they have an acquired the body of knowledge and expertise in this field by passing a written examination. The CHSOS credential assures employers, learners, and the public that certified individual possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience in simulation-based activities to perform competently.
Following successful completion of the CHSOS examination, the certified individual is expected to maintain certification, which must be renewed every three years. The process of utilizing CPD?s for recertification requires obtaining and maintaining documentation of 45 CPD credits over the 3-year recertification cycle in a variety of activities associated with simulation operations such as, but not limited to:
- Participation in continuing education activities including conferences, webinars, or other education events
- Publishing journal articles, chapters, or books
- Presenting at continuing education events
- Developing or modifying technologies or technical items
- Many other items qualify
